In this part "The Power of Now", I will try to explain, why the power of Now is so essential and even have a existential importance for the artist.
Here, I will try to describe what the present moment is, what it means and which consequences and implications the practice of the present moment means for the artist and the comicauthor.
First of all, I have to explain what is the present moment.
Living in the present moment and being present consist mainly not to be completely identified with one's thoughts and the forms, living in the Now means to be present through sens perceptions ( see, hear, feel with hands and fingers...) and through the "body".
To get out of the identification of the thoughts and the forms, there is also the possibility to take the role of the observer beyond the thoughts and forms. At this point, the question is; why actually the present moment, why not staying constantly in the flow of thoughts and forms?
According to my own experience, for me as an artist, there is no other way to consider the present moment as the center of my life. I had to admit that there is no other way to be present through sens perceptions and through the "body" most of the time in daily life.

Also i would like to mention it is not only the identification with the thoughts that means to be problematic for the artist, but also the identification with the forms.
That means as consequence: the activity of thinking should be considered as an instrument; the comicwriter and the comicdrawer should not be identified with their thoughts. As for me as an artist, according to my experience, being identified with thoughts and forms always had a destructive impact on me, for example, the identification with thoughts and forms caused lots of anxiety in my daily life .
So, one of the traps for the artist and the comicauthor is to remain "imprisoned in their mind" or, better said, remain "imprisoned" in the process of thinking and in the forms. This imprisonment in the mind, in the process of thinking and in the forms may end fatally for the artist, which is why the artist should escape from the "prison of the mind and the forms" ; the mind and the process of thinking has to be considered as tools and Instruments for the creative working of the comicauthor.
Methods to escape the mind, the thinking and the identification with the forms.
There are different methods to escape the "mental prison" and the identification with forms; I will list here some of them. The different methods listed here allow the access to the formless. Here the words that are used are only hints. In the practice, the subjective experiencer of the now may be more confortable with other words, like "spirit power" or "mindfullness",
- Method 1: See, hear, feel with hands and fingers, smell...
Here the method is to move the inner attention from the "thought stream" to the senses and the sense perceptions ( it needs no effort, just practice. ); so not to stay absorbed in thoughts, but to move the attention with your sense perceptions to forms, objects, colours, sounds and noises, to move the attention from the "thought stream" also to the touch perception ( with hands and fingers ) and to the smell perception. In addition to that, you can also stop the flow of thoughts by paying attention to the difference of Temperature, that means by feeling the cold temperature or the warm temperature.
Be present with sense perceptions means, for example:
- to admire the beauty of landscapes and nature. ( without naming it or putting a label on it; you focuse your attention on nature; thoughts may arise at some time )
- meditatively admiring and looking at a fireplace/flames of the fire ( example )
- meditatively admiring and looking at the fishes in an aquarium ( example )
- meditatively listening to relaxing music ( example )
- feeling with hands and fingers something soft or gentle; that could be caressing an animal like a dog or a cat.
- Smelling and enjoying perfumes.
- Second method: the "body".
Here the inner attention is moving from the "flow of thoughts" to the "body" and especially to the breath.
Here I will mention some examples to practice the inner attention to the body:
- Meditation ( Breath Meditation ).
- Body Scan
- Yoga
- Sports, swimming, biking, soccer, tennis...and so on
- Dancing
Here I would like to mention something about meditation: There are many "tutorials" on the internet to learn meditation. I recommend to all those who never learned meditation to read these tutorials and then to practice regularly Meditation. Meditation is a "technique" that requires a "basic knowledge", for the best results over the time, Meditation needs regular practice, also patience and perseverance.
Third method: reading (texts and images) and writing with the pleasant "body/energy".
Reading, especially reading texts with pictures and illustrations, and writing are also good ways to escape the constant flow of thoughts.
You should take care about the energy while writing or reading , do I feel comfortable by reading and writing? Does it feel good ? Or is it exhausting? In the fact, you had to feel a pleasant energy while writing or reading.
So, in order to escape the "mental prison", the best way is to alternate the different methods: to be present in daily life, you have to switch between the sensory perceptions, the method of the "body" and the method of reading and writing.
Again, to avoid missunderstandings, by practicing these methods, you will not become completely free of thoughts and thinking. Thoughts and Thinking may rise again and again. With these Methods, you will be able to make a pause in the process of thinking. Thoughts come and go again, like clouds in the sky.
Important note:
These methods ( being in the present moment ) were very helpfull for me to improve my creativity and to have a lot of pleasure in the process of creating Artworks. However, I would like here to mention that there is another thing that may raise one's energetic vibration. I will try now to describe this thing in words. With the described methods of being present like sport, yoga, meditation, breath.... you should also represent in your mind that the energy that is absorbed in meditation with breath or in yoga, or by admiring nature....usw remains in the body and that the energy that is absorbed does not dissipate outside in the chaos of forms. At first, you represent this in your mind; when you internalize over the time this representation ( that the energy remains in the body ), then, at a certain point, you do not need this inner representation anymore, and then the fact that the energy which is absorbed remains in the body happens beyond thoughts and representation. In other words, you are in the present moment through breath meditation by feeling the inner body. Here I will call breath Meditation by feeling the inner body the way of "breathing correctly". By practicing the present moment through other methods like Sports or admiring nature or a fire place, you represent also in your mind that the energy remains in the body, by feeling at the some time the inner Body, that´s the way of "breathing correctly" from the point of view of the "external forms".
So, I tried here to describe the way of "breathing correctly" with words, but the english language and the english words are very limited, so to describe this matter in details, I will make some videos in my Youtubechannel, which will be created next year.
There is one more thing you should know about the fact of "breathing correctly", to raise one´s energy over the time, you need the activation; here there are two forms of activation, the activation with the unmanifest and the activation with the manifest. The power of now
Being in the present moment Through sense perceptions and through the body is crucial for the creative process, so to achieve success as a comicauthor, you have to be present in the activity of drawing and in the activity of writing the script and the story. The "only" way to be creative in comicwriting is continually practice the present moment.
The present moment has a "creative" power and it gives you also a lot of pleasure by writing and drawing the comicstory.
PARTICULARITIES OF THE PRESENT MOMENT IN THE WORK OF COMICWRITING AND COMICDRAWING.
There are some particularities in the selection of the present moment in the work of comicwriting and comicdrawing.
- For the work of comicwriting:
One of the specifics in the work of comicwriting is what I call visualization work through meditation. Through Meditation, the comicwriter can internally visualize the plan and the texts of the comic. Through visualization, the comicwriter can access to a great source of new ideas and can be very creative. In truth, it is much more complicated than it is now described, more about this on my Youtube video channel and contact me if necessary.
- for the work of comicdrawing
A special feature for comicdrawing is that not being constantly submerged by thoughts, but remaining present in the activity of drawing. The fact is that the comicdrawer has to "concentrate" himself with the pencil or the brush through the sense of sight on his "drawings" and the forms of his drawings.
TO SUMMARIZE
So being present is crucial for the creative process; the comicwriter and the comicdrawer has to be present through sense perceptions and through the "body", if he wants to achieve success. Being in the present moment means to escape from the "mental prison" and the identification with forms.
Being in the present moment allows the access to a great richness of ideas for the artist and the comicwriter and gives a lot of pleasure in the creative work.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Here i would like to mention that the present moment with its creativity, its happiness and joy can not really unfold, if there is a trauma on the background, a trauma means negative unconscious energies that are "stored" at the "edge of the body". Here at this point, it is recommended to begin a trauma therapy for those who are seeking for more happiness, joy and creativity. First of all, it is important for oneself to recognize that there is possibly a trauma in the unconsciousness, the best thing that you can do to be ready to accept the trauma and to have the Mindset that it is very liberating for oneself to heal and transform the trauma.
